UPDATE: REUNITED!
Peaches is a very friendly female Cape/Gray-Headed Parrot. She was staying with a friend while I was away for the weekend, and just as my plane landed, I received a message that she flew out of my friend’s hands and out the door.
She says “Hi, Peach” “I love you” and knows how to “meow” like a cat. She can also say “Couche” and “Ow!” and “Yummy, yummy!”, “Good boy!” and “Good Girl” and make the sound of running water, as well as various microwave beeps, plus crow sounds, red-tailed hawk sounds, and Harris’ hawk sounds, as well as “laugh” like a human, and a sneeze and a coughing sound.
We walked around my property and the neighborhood and heard a faint whistle back around 7:30 PM. Then, the resident owls woke up and started screeching (two adults and at least two or three young ones) so we could not hear any parrot sounds after that.
Her outdoor aviary is open, and all the windows and doors to the house too, and all the exterior lights are on, so here’s hoping she comes home before an owl or hawk gets her! She is flighted but has never flown outside of the house or her 10′ x 10′ x 10′ aviary so I don’t think she will know how to get down if she is up high.
She is microchipped and usually sees Dr. Jenkins or Dr. Gillette at the Avian & Exotic Animal Hospital in San Diego, so if you find her you can bring her there, or to any veterinary hospital or animal shelter where they can scan her microchip. Thanks so much for searching for my little baby girl! Her mommy misses her very much.
