Amelia is approximately 4 years old. Although she is a female, she is very pretty and looks like a standard male cockatiel.
We rescued her from neglectful neighbors 2 and a half years ago and she has done so well with us. She is sweet and shy but playful and loves to explore. She likes to hide behind or beside/under things and peek out at you from her little hiding places. She is delighted when you find her and will then step up onto your hand.
She does not speak words but has a sweet cheeeeee-cheepity-cheeeee song that she will sometimes sing. She returns calls with her mate Freddie, and loves to hear me sing her songs “Cecelia” by Simon and Garfunkel (but I sing “Amelia” instead of “Cecelia” and also the BeeGee’s “Good Morning Mrs. Sunshine, You Brighten Up My Day”.
She loves toast, oatmeal, arugula and parsley. She loves pasta.
She unexpectedly flew out the door on Sunday November 18th just as it was getting dark. She was started by a noise in our home just as my husband was going out the door – and she just happened to fly up at an angle that gave her access to the space above his head……and she was gone. She went right for the streetlight and then to the south, towards I-275 (Lois exit).
Her mate Freddie is beside himself and we are so upset. Please, if you see a little cockatiel please call us. 813-453-9555 is my cell. Our hearts are broken, she is our child and we love her so much.
Thank you.
