Hi  Now about Miss. Dorie. My husband had the door opened to the garage and then put the garage door up and the sound must have scared her cause up up and away she flew! i have a greenbelt in back of my house I heard her out back in a very tall tree I tried to coax her down but she would not. I got her cage and put it in the backyard and put food in it and propped the door open. And to top it all off it was a very gray rainy day and very cool outdoors. I preceded to get the ladder mind you the tree is about 30 feet. I began climbing up the tree and when I got close I put my arm out and asked her to step up, so what does she do she flies away going south!I called  her everyday and nothing. I faxed Lost Pet posters with Dories pic and info about her and me and emphasized that she had a microchip. Put posters up all over called all the vets in my area and asked them if anyone came in with a grey bird to please scan it. I called my friend and asked her to call the parrot store  and ask them if anyone has said they found a grey bird… So my friend emailed me and told me they have not heard anything about a found bird. So the next day I got a call from my friend that the bird store called and a man had called them so they gave him Cristas phone#  She called me and gave me the address of the man that had found her, and it just happened to be across the greenbelt in the apt on the next street. So she did not go far after all. I went and got her and gave him a reward for taking good care of her and returning her to her owner. So thats the whole story. I think when people find a pet they should take it to a vet or Humane Society to check for a microchip. I think there needs to be more education from communities vets and shelters about micro chips… I do thank you guys for doing what you do. We I must remember BIRDS FLY! even with wing trims and Dories wings were trimmed. Again thank you to all who love and help the parrots… Sincerely
Cathy
