Stripe is a very intelligent 7 year old Senegal Parrot. He converses in English, asks for his Nutriberries in full sentences (and uses magic words), and makes cryptic comments about things going on in the room. Very social with birds and humans, but not at all fond of dogs. He flew away from a residence in the Riva area of Annapolis on 14 June 2012 when the individual watching him took him out on the porch at night and a strong wind inspired him to flight.
Searches, calling in the neighborhood for 2 weeks yieded no results. Calling SPCA yielded no results. We’ve had Stripe since 2006, he was 10 months old at the time. I estimate his intelligence level at the second grade level – he has a dry wit and a hoo,hoo,hoo lchuckling augh. There were 2 clown finches in the home that Stripe spoke for – they could only chirp – when the second one passed away in April 2012 Stripe paced the bottom of his cage and said “Little bird is gone and I’m sad.”
He has a gray head and a distinct green necktie on his yellow “shirt”. His body is green. He loves to sit on shoulders and dance on an outstreched arm.
