A local family is seeking the aid of the public to help them local a lost bird. Alisa Landau reported that Cheeky, a cockatiel, went missing from their Weaver Street home in Byram a few days ago.
She said the family was letting the bird’s wings grow in and teaching him to fly to them. A family member may have left the cage door open allowing the bird to fly out the door.
As a cockatiel, he is not indigenous to this area. Ms. Landau suggested that he’ll fly to a bird feeder or someone directly.
“He likes to hear whistling of Yankee Doodle Dandy. He does not talk but does whistle.”
