I was visiting with someone at the end of Lamplite Lane in Williston and heard two lost parrot-type birds calling in the trees above where I was standing. They sounded very distressed of course, and their wings were starting to droop, indicating that they were not doing well. (when birds are sick or starving, their wings often droop down due to lack of energy). It was hard to tell how big they were since they were in the tops of the trees, but I would guess they were larger than a Lovebird, but had a call similar to a Lovebird’s call–it was a screechy, high-pitched call. I felt very sad for them, but was not able to capture them. Since pet birds cannot normally survive in the wild, I hope that whoever had these birds will try and save them because they will starve to death extremely quickly.
Thank you for reading, and I hope those birds can be helped by someone they know. If these birds might be yours, check the area around the end of Lamplite Lane in Williston and vicinity.
