Large vivid yellow Parakeet periodically frequents finch feeders. Does not appear to have any bands or dark markings. Yet the plumage is longer and does not resemble that of a canary. Has lighter colored face and underwing. Has continued to stay in area to date: January 9, 2012. This parakeet is larger than those found in pet stores so it’s of a mature age. Was surprised when first sited. Thought parakeets were tropical birds and couldn’t survive in our climate. Tough bird. Always stays in the company of sparrows and finches whenever seen. Is never seen alone. Will try to update with photo when I catch the opportunity.
