Juvenile Blue/Yellow Macaw was spotted in the Pine Tree Woods on East Hoffman Road at approx. 1pm CT.
No attempt was made to lure or entice the bird was made at time of sighting.
The bird took short flights and flew around in the trees.
The weather locally is going to get VERY COLD with 1St Frost Date set for November 1st Annually. We’ve already had a Freeze Warning!
We also have multiple Barr Owls and Peregrine Falcons that live locally within a 5 mile radius, so I am worried about the continued safety of this bird!
Not to mention the less than adequate food supply for a tropical bird!
I hope this message finds its owner (or someone with expertise that can help it!
I will attempt to notify local wildlife rehabbers, but not going to cross my fingers they can help, as they are all in high rehab season with the change in temps.
For anyone who is not a State Certified Rehabber that wants additional info, pls provide a photo of the bird for ownership verification!
