This grey/white cockatiel was found at Spy Pond, late on Monday 6/3/13. A gentleman found him and called the local police, who then called me as we have also lost a grey/white cockatiel. When we went to see him, the bird was in bad shape – dehydrated, emaciated and nearly unresponsive. We brought it to the 24 hour animal hospital; he is recovering well but is still in hospital as of the evening of 6/5.
The bird SEEMS to be male according to the vet, but is not very vocal and only squeaks in response to typical phrases or whistles. Other defining features are fairly large open nares compared to others I’ve seen. The bird also seems a bit shy and does not step up onto a hand, but I cannot say if that is from illness or if that is its demeanor.
