Hello,
I found a Monk Parakeet (Quaker Parrot),
small, bright green with grayish-white feathering on its face and chest on 3/12/25 at approx 5pm.
I’m saddened that I have yet to find a post of anyone looking for their parakeet and I’ve looked everywhere.
However, I’ve taken the parakeet in and bought him a cage with accessories and toys to ensure he feels comfortable and relaxed. He also has food, fruits and treats with water. He’s living the dream but as a pet parent I’m saddened and want to find the original owner as I’d hate to be in their shoes.
If anyone has heard of someone who’s lost a Quaker parakeet in the Hialeah Gardens/ Miami Dade area please have them contact me 305.343.7155.
*Characteristics:*
Small to medium-sized, about 11-12 inches long,
bright green body with a grayish-white chest and face.
Tail is long and pointed, with a mix of green and blue/teal feathers.
Beak is Peach-colored.
Legs/Feet: Grayish with strong gripping ability
comfortable with humans, perching on hands, arms and shoulders
Enjoys eating crackers/snacks from a person’s hand
Rests with eyes closed while perched, indicating a level of trust
Appears calm and social, obvious this is a pet rather than a wild bird
