On Monday, August 5th at exactly 4:32pm, my male Solomon Island Eclectus, Mowgli, flew off from a perch I have for him outside in my garden because he got spooked by a few of the neighborhood kids running around near him while I was picking some vegetables from my garden. He’s two years old, and unfortunately has no idea how to support himself in the wild. His wings are clipped, but he must have caught some really good air because he managed to take off about 5-6 feet off the ground for a few yards before disappearing from site. It’s the last I’ve seen of him. He is banded, but the paperwork is with my mother who lives about two hours away – she is faxing me the paperwork as soon as she retrieves it. The band is a purple ID band on his right foot. He knows his name but doesn’t respond to it, and is an extremely quiet bird, so I worry he won’t try calling out if he’s in a tree or stuck somewhere. Any help would be greatly, greatly appreciated and I will be forever indentured. Thank you to everyone in advance.
