On November 5, 2012 Mr. Riviera, in the parking lot of his employer near bushes he found a Blue and Gold Macaw. Since he needed to go to work he called his wife who came to bring the bird to their home till they could help find the owners of this bird. Meanwhile, they called named it Sandy. He called us a few weeks ago along with several rescues to take Sandy. Sandy was brought to our refuge on June 30, 2013 We have diseased tested Sandy and the results came back negative. We also now the sex of Sandy with we hope will help in finding the proper owner. Mr. Rivera would like for us to keep in touch with him about Sandy and would like for us to adopt Sandy if the owners cannot be found. This is our 2nd posting on Sandy, we are looking into multiple places where we may locate the owner. Due to the efforts of Mr. Riviera in finding Sandy’s proper owner in the last 6 months and in addition to all we can do, if the proper owner will not come forth we will place Sandy up for adoption as of August 1st, 2013. The proper owners will need the following to show proof of ownership to Sandy: • Band ID # • NJ Wildlife Registration • Receipt of purchase or adoption of Sandy • Veterinary Records and Sexing Results • Exact location where they lost Sandy • Proof of residence Owners must also comply with a home visit to assure Sandy will remain well cared for and safe.
