Turquis (pronounced ‘turkey’) is a turqouise breasted parakeet with yellow on her crown and black and white stripes on her face and wings. She also has a small spot of cobalt blue on each cheek. She is almost one year old. She weighed 33 ounces and was diagnosed with a kidney infection at her last vet visit (around December 18, 2012) at The Avian Medical Center in Lake Oswego, Oregon: 15952 SW Quarry Road Lake Oswego, Oregon 97035, phone# (503) 635-5672. She is quite ill and needs to be taking the antibiotic she was prescribed.
Turquis flew out of her cage in front of The Avian Medical Center on Dec. 22, 2012 around 11:30a. She is a calm, sweet, loving bird. I have raised her in an environment where she can come and go from her cage as she pleases. She enjoys chirping to music, will perch on fingers and shoulders, and more recently has enjoyed hanging out on top of my head.
She likes cilantro and parsley and eats mostly seeds. She responds to people saying ‘Good job!’, and usually spreads her wings and stretches her legs when this is repeated. She gets excited about hearing running water, and will begin to chirp and ‘bop’ her head. She also enjoys playing with her reflection in a mirror.
If you have spotted Turquis, I miss her a lot! Please contact Nikki Rosen @ (502) 303-5160 or the Avian Medical Center @ (503) 635-5672. Thank you very much for taking the time to read this!
sincerely,
