–details on recovery–

“We took advice from some websites and put Missy’s cage, playstand and travel cage all out in the open so that she might have the opportunity to see her items.  My husband and daughter and I had all walked around our neighborhood, trudged through nearby wooded areas and called and whistled as we walked further into our rural area.  Missy went missing on Sunday.  On Monday afternoon, I thought I heard a whistle from the tall oak tree in our front yard.  After listening and hearing the whistle a couple more times and verifying that it wasn’t coming from my husband, we located Missy by using binoculars.  We had very bad weather Sunday evening and all of Monday.  Missy stayed in her tree most of the time.  A couple of times she flew to a tree in a neighbors’ yard, but did return to our yard.  After spending much time ‘talking’ to her and exhausting all ideas of trying to reach her ( she was too high in the tree),  we tried another tactic.  Missy has always been very nosey and loves the smell of people food.  I suggested that my husband and I eat our lunch outside today but turn our chairs so that our backs would be to Missy and her tree.  Missy flew down and seemed to want to land on my shoulder but I think due to the inexperience of landing from such a heighth, this scared her back to her tree.  She later flew to another tree in our backyard and finally attempted to fly to my shoulder again.  She landed in a rhododedren that was next to the bench where I was sitting.  I was able to pick her up and get her inside.  I read in one article that parrots are telepathic.  I really believe this helped because while searching for her, I talked to her with my mind and expressed the thoughts and feelings I have for her.  Perhaps this will sound weird to some people but I believe she and I are somehow on the same track!  At any rate, she came home and I am so fortunate to have my sweet bird with me again.”

She is 4 -1/2 years old. Back of neck is completely yellow. Has a purple band on her foot. Has good vocabulary. Wings have not been clipped since last year. Flew from my shoulder today around 3:15 PM and headed in a southernly direction. She will sing “I Love” to the tune of the Barney song. Likes to say “hello” and “bye bye”.
