Brynaman owner is sick as a parrot after Polly wings it
6:10am Wednesday 30th May 2012 in News
FEATHERS are flying in Brynaman as the village goes in search of a lost parrot, writes Steve Adams.
Polly, a 12-year-old African grey, picked the lock on her cage while owner Mark Lawler was preparing to give her a shower on Sunday morning.
Mark, of Bryn Bach Road, said: “I went to give her a shower outside in the sun, but while my back was turned she fiddled with the lock and got out.
“She was only being curious, but her curiosity went too far.”
Mark, 42, has reared Polly from a chick.
She set off towards Maes y Deri at 11am, but Mark spotted her in nearby fields at 6pm.
“I had been out all day shouting and calling her and saw her very high up above between Bryn Bach Road and Maes y Deri, but she was too scared to come down,” said Mark.
“I desperately want her back safe – she will be scared, hungry and thirsty by now, especially in this heat.”
Polly, whocould live to 60, is very distinctive. She is about nine inches tall, grey and has a bright red tail.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Mark on 07799 670822.
