Hi, I just spoke to my friend who has a parrot sanctuary. A cockatiel was brought to her 2 1/2 weeks ago (on a Sat)by an animal control officer. I would like you to have this information as I see you have many cockatiels lost and might be able to make a match.
The bird flew into one of the toll booths on route 22, heading towards Easton, PA. The person at the toll booth said that just a few days before a woman had stopped by to ask if anyone had seen a cockatiel, but did not leave her name or info.
The bird sounds like a male, does the wolf whistle and is trying to say the word hello. It has a yellow head and crest, bright orange cheeks. All light grey, with dark grey under wings and tail. Has white bar on wings. Has all of its toes.
It is not banded. When found it was very cold, hungry and is now doing very well. Bird has not been handled so as not to stress, since the bird seems to want to bite, but is very friendly when you come to the cage.
I hope some this info can help. If you do go ahead and post this info, the person can contact the sanctuary.
My friend said the animal control said she posted it somewhere, but I have no idea where. I didn’t think I saw it on your list. Please feel free to cross post this on any bird list.
