I live in the South Kennedy tract on Chapman St. in Oakland. I’m glad I was home last night and heard it calling. With the cold weather and rain it probably would have been dead from exposure by morning.
The bird looks just like the photo below. White ring around the eye, brilliant yellow and orange facial markings, dark green flight feathers with blue and black in the tale section, medium green underbelly feathers, dark rose beak, grey feet. There doesn’t appear to be any anomaly markings that might differentiate it from another Fisher.
It’s somewhat congenial – I got it to sit on my arm and shoulder. It readily takes seeds from a dish – it prefers Black Niger and Sunflower seeds.
