This parrot and cockatoo were stolen in a burglary from the Copper Kettle Cafe in Gainsborough

TWO birds which were stolen from a Gainsborough café have made a miraculous return.
Romeo the cockatoo and George the green Amazon parrot were swiped by intruders at the Copper Kettle Café in Trinity Street two weeks ago.
Computer equipment was also stolen during the burglary along with cash and frozen meat.
Owners David Holmes and Anne Martin were devastated without their feathered friends, and café customers missed them dearly. But last Tuesday, police knocked on the door and handed George back to them, followed on Wednesday by Romeo.
“We are over the moon to have them back,” said Anne.
“The police have been fantastic, we can’t thank them enough.”
“We are just so glad they haven’t been mistreated or left to fend for themselves.”
Anne said George had lost his tail feathers – a common side effect of bird stress. But Romeo, who travelled home in the back of a police car chirping ‘Hello Romeo’, is playful and cheeky as ever.
Lincolnshire Police spokesman James Newall said that one of the birds was found outside while another was in someone’s house, but they are still appealing for anyone with information regarding the burglary to come forward.
The theft took place sometime overnight between 10th and 11th November at the Copper Kettle Café in Trinity Street, Gainsborough.
Call Lincolnshire Police on 101 or call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
